I got me a few bullets

I've just got my hands on a whole bunch of stats - and am working on an involved post about the Hornets past drafts as compared to the rest of the league, but it's not quite done yet. So today, you just get some bullets.

• This is too funny not to share - no matter what you may think of me for doing so.
• The Hornets waived Anthony Richardson and Eric Chenowith, leaving them 15 players on their roster. Chenowith was hurt for most of the camp, and Richardson was outworked by Ryan Bowen and out athleticked (that's right. athleticked. Shut up.) by Julian Wright. So the Hornets final 2007-2008 roster:

Center: Tyson Chandler, Hilton Armstrong
Power Forward: David West, Melvin Ely, Ryan Bowen
Small Forward: Peja Stojakovic, Julian Wright, Marcus Vinicius
Shooting Guard: Morris Peterson, Rasual Butler, Adam Haluska, Trey Johnson
Point Guard: Chris Paul, Bobby Jackson, Jannero Pargo

• If there was one thing that worried me a little about this team this year, it was depth. We had no proven big men behind West and Chandler, and Butler is so up and down, we don't have much behind Peja. So we needed help at the forward and center spots. It appears we have it: Hilton Armstrong and Julian Wright are both playing well in the preseason and have drawn approbation from Byron Scott. Considering how sparing he is usually with praise for rookies, this is a good sign. Of course, he said good things about Brandon Bass and Linton Johnson last preseason, and we know how that turned out.
• I'm having a little trouble tempering my enthusiasm for Julian Wright. It's been . . . well . . . never, since we had a thoroughbred athelete at the Small Forward position, capable of wreaking havoc on the defensive end and running the floor like a demon a la Andrei Kirilenko. Except without the whining. I can't wait.
