Fire sucks

I had a plan to post last night, but my house literally caught on fire when a piece of clothing was left(tossed and left) on top of a lamp in my six year old son's room. Everything is fine now - except our wall-to-wall carpet, a couple pieces of clothing, an Elmo sleeping bag, and the teddy bear I'm convinced threw the clothes on the lamp in the first place. He's a polar bear, and you know how vicious they can be.

Oh - and Flame-retardant Elmo Sleeping bags? Not that retardant, and not the best things to use to smother fires.

So now that I've recovered enough from smoke inhalation, I can get back to important things. Like - the Hornets.

It's my impression from this article that David West is essentially telling us that we shouldn't worry about his pre-season shooting percentage because he's not trying. I guess that's comforting. In a way.

There's a preseason game with Atlanta tonight. Apparently the Hawks are already in town in New Orleans, and were surprised at the extent of the damage in the 9th Ward. Really? I don't even live in New Orleans, but I have a pretty good idea what I'd find if I went to the 9th Ward.

The ESPN Fantasy Projections and Rankings came out. Chris Paul is ranked 11th overall and 4th among point guards behind Arenas, Nash and Kidd. David West is 53rd overall and 12th among Power Forwards, Tyson Chandler is 61st overall and 8th among Centers, Peja is 82nd and 19th, and Morris Peterson is 101st and 22nd. If you are a Fantasy Basketball player, that's actually a pretty promising spread if you want an all-Hornets team. Insert a couple players between Paul and David and you can probably get all of them. Of course, building a fantasy team off of a real team is usually pretty stupid.

And as for Stojakovic - despite rampant worry about his back, sitting out a couple practices and a pre-season game for soreness is a pretty common practice all over the NBA. John Reid of the Times-Picayune doesn't seem to think anything is wrong with him either. Since the season hasn't started, I'll chime in with an optimistic "Hell yeah!"

I never did trust that Elmo.

I'm feeling a little more optimistic about Peja, now. I tell myself every year that what happens in the preseason means nothing, and yet I still end up reading too much into it.

Glad to hear everyone is okay after the spontaneous combustion.

A new version of the LP was issued which did include the hit single, and the album proceeded to sell well. In some cases old copies of the LP which did not include the single were shipped inside album covers that did list the single.
